How to Pose for Outfits of the Day

Method 1: Position your feet

1. Try the knee bounce.

1. Try the knee bounce.

Knees are a great way to make your legs look longer and leaner. Start by standing with your feet straight and toes pointed forward. Then, rotate one leg so that the toes point out to the side. Then, slightly bend this knee while keeping part of your foot on the ground.

2. Stand with your feet parallel to your shoulders.

2. Stand with your feet parallel to your shoulders.

3. Cross your legs.

3. Cross your legs.

Standing with one leg crossed over the other is a great way to give your look an air of indifference. Simply stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, then retract one leg and bring the other to the other.

  • You don't have to completely cross your legs for this look. You can cross your legs near your ankles or calves.

  • Make sure you feel firm in your stance. Try holding onto a sturdy wall or railing if you feel a little wobbly.

4. Lean on one side or against a wall.

4. Lean on one side or against a wall.

Leaning in is a subtle way to add some casual flair to your day's outfit shots. Try to lean slightly to one side, or lean your back against a solid wall.

  • Make sure you're not leaning on anything that can move, such as a bookshelf or bus.

5. Walk.

5. Walk.

Walking is an easy way to get a good photo. However, make sure you walk slowly. A brisk walk can lead to blurry photos. Also, remember to watch out for traffic as you walk.

  • If you're wearing a skirt and want to capture how it moves, you can also try turning around.

  • You can also place one foot slightly in front of the other to simulate movement without actually walking.

6. Sit on the couch or in a chair.

6. Sit on the couch or in a chair.

Sitting on an attractive couch or in a chair is another great way to create a scene. By sitting down to photograph the day's outfit, you'll instantly look cool and relaxed. Try asking a friend to take a picture of you while you're sitting on a park bench. Or, sit in your favorite chair at home and take your picture.

Method 2: Position your arm

1. Grab the skirt with one or both hands.

1. Grab the skirt with one or both hands.

If you're wearing a skirt for your day's outfit, grabbing it with one or both hands is a cute way to highlight it. Grab the edge of your skirt with one or both hands as if you're going to curl, but don't actually curl.

Try raising your skirt to different heights to show off your full bust. If the skirt isn't very full, just lift it up a bit.

This pose is best suited for voluminous skirts. It probably wouldn't be pretty to do this with a pencil skirt.

2. Raise one arm above your head.

2. Raise one arm above your head.

For a sense of relaxation, try raising one arm above your head. For example, you can lift your arm up to the side of the road in a big city as if you were riding a taxi, or raise your arm, bend at the elbow, and rest your forearm above your head.

  • Experiment with different positions to find the look you like best.

3. Grasp one arm with your opposite hand.

3. Grasp one arm with your opposite hand.

To add some shyness or modesty to your outfit photo of the day, try grabbing one arm with your opposite hand. Use one hand to grab the other arm around the forearm or wrist. This will create an interesting angle that won't distract from your outfit.

  • You can also try crossing your arms, but this may cover part of your outfit or make you appear impatient or annoyed. However, if this is what you want, then give it a try!

4. Keep your arms by your side.

4. Keep your arms by your side.

You can also perfectly keep your arms straight at your sides for outfit shots of the day. Just let them fall and hang naturally on your sides. Don't worry about doing anything with them.

Đặt một tay vào túi của bạn

5. Put one hand in your pocket.

If you're wearing a pair of pants, tops, skirts, or other types of clothing that have pockets, putting one hand in a pocket is a great way to show them off. This pose will also help create a nonchalant tone for your outfit photo of the day. Slip your right or left hand into one of your pockets and just let it sit there.

6. Take off your coat.

6. Take off your coat.

If you're wearing a jacket, pulling it out can be a great way to get a photo that looks comfortable and cool. Try shrugging your shoulders and starting to take off your jacket or coat, then take a photo so you can get a shot of the jacket on the top and bottom half.

7. Fix your hair.

7. Fix your hair.

If you want to appear super casual for your photo, try taking a photo while you're fixing your hair. You can simply run your fingers through your hair to capture. You can also get extra cool by taking pictures while you're styling your hair in the morning or when getting ready for a night on the town.

Method 3: Perfect your vision

1. Look back with confidence.

1. Look back with confidence.

Looking straight into the camera is a great way to show your confidence in the day's outfit shot. Try looking straight into the camera with a confident smile or no smile for a more dramatic look.

2. Look over your shoulder.

2. Look over your shoulder.

Turning to look at the camera is another great way to show confidence. By turning and looking over your shoulder, you'll be able to show off the back of your day's outfit and add a confident, playful touch to your photo.

3. Turn your back to the camera.

3. Turn your back to the camera.

If you love your outfit, but don't really want your face in the day's outfit shot, then try turning your back to the camera for the shot. This will help create a mysterious tone for your outfit photo of the day.

4. Look down.

4. Look down.

Looking down is a great way to set a playful, bashful tone to your outfit photo of the day. Try looking at the ground or at your shoes right before you take the photo.

Method 4: Setting the scene

1. Take pictures at home.

1. Take pictures at home.

You can shoot the day's outfit anywhere, but sometimes shooting at home can be the most convenient. You won't have to worry about traffic, pedestrians or other things that might get in the way of your perfect shot. Try taking a photo of yourself in the living room, bedroom, or another attractive room in your house.

  • Before you photograph the day's outfit at home, make sure there's nothing in the background that could interfere with the shot, such as a pile of dirty laundry or another messy area in your home.

2. Someone takes a picture of you crossing the street.

2. Someone takes a picture of you crossing the street.

If you have a friend with you, you might consider letting them cross the street ahead of you and then have them snap at you as you're nearing the other side of the street, or even halfway across the street.

  • Be sure to watch out for traffic and be very careful when taking this shot.

3. Pose in front of an attractive building.

3. Pose in front of an attractive building.

You may know of a building with interesting architecture or it would serve as a nice backdrop for a costume shot of the day. If so, try photographing your day's outfit here. This will add interest to your photo and give your outfit photo of the day some flair.

  • Make sure to avoid buildings and walls that are too bold or distracting. This can take away your outfit.

4. Incorporate a prop.

4. Incorporate a prop.

Props can help change the color tone of a photo. Make sure this is something that is really part of your daily life to keep the footage looking authentic.

  • If you're a mom, try taking pictures with your baby in a stroller, such as in a stroller or in a bassinet. Or, if you always carry a cup of coffee with you on your way to work, pose with a coffee mug in hand.

  • Your cell phone can be a great prop to emphasize that you are a strong woman or man, always on the go. Have someone snap a picture of you while you're working on something on your phone. Keep your face neutral or slightly furrowed to indicate concentration.

  • Sunglasses are another great prop. Turn on a pair before taking your photo to look super eye-catching.

  • Hold your jacket over one shoulder. If it's cool enough to take off a jacket or coat, hold it in one hand and swing it over your shoulder. This will give you a relaxed, nonchalant look.

5. Check the light.

5. Check the light.

Taking photos in good light is crucial to getting a good photo. That's why taking pictures outside during the day is often the best option. Check for any weird shadows before you shoot. If so, change your position until you find good lighting.

  • If you're at home, try opening a window to let in natural light or turn on different lights to see which works best.

  • If you're going outside, finding a spot with partial shade might work best on a bright sunny day.

Method 5: Frame your photo

1. Determine your best angles.

1. Determine your best angles.

It's important to make sure you're capturing your best angles. Experiment to see which angle looks best to you and keep this in mind.

  • For example, if you know you look your best when shot at a slight tilt, make sure to frame your shot this way.

2. Record your image with a full length mirror.

2. Record your image with a full length mirror.

If you don't have anyone to take a picture of yourself, take a photo in front of a full-length mirror. Just make sure to turn off the flash first!

  • Use a mirror at home rather than a mirror in the bathroom. Using a mirror in a public bathroom to capture your day's outfit can be distracting.

3. Cut your head out of the frame

3. Cut your head out of the frame

If you want to emphasize your clothes and nothing else, frame the image so your head isn't in it. This is also a great strategy if you're having a bad hair day or if you simply don't want your face in the picture that day.

4. Focus on one aspect of your outfit.

4. Focus on one aspect of your outfit.

If there's one detail of the outfit that you particularly like, you can focus on that one detail in your photo as well. Zoom in or take a detailed close-up.

  • For example, if you love a new pair of shoes, take a photo of your shoes and post it as your outfit photo of the day.

5. Take a photo from a slightly lower angle to look taller.

5. Take a photo from a slightly lower angle to look taller.

Using a tripod or asking a friend to take the photo, angle the shot from a slightly low angle. This will make you appear taller and it will provide an interesting angle.

  • However, do not take photos at too low a temperature or it may not look good.

6. Use a tripod or stack of books to prop up your camera.

6. Use a tripod or stack of books to prop up your camera.

Your angle is important, and holding the camera at hand level may not match your look. You can always ask someone to take a picture of you instead. However, if no one is around, use a tripod or a stack of books to raise your camera to a suitable height to capture your image.

  • You can also use a selfie stick, but keep in mind that you'll have to hold it out and this can distract you a bit.
